Many theories on how ‘Thrones’ ends

well end up ruling as king and queen (he’s at +750). In a recent episode, it was clear they’ve reconnected and would make compatible monarchs.

Take a deep breath and consider Reddit user ronton’s Team Tyrion post:

“Sansa joins them in the war, the Winterfell dragon rises, Dany tries and fails to kill Jon, Jon and Dany have a dragon fight, Arya kills Dany, Jon either dies or goes to join the free folk, Sansa becomes Queen of the North, Tyrion takes the throne but destroys it in favour of democratic rule since he now sees that absolute power corrupts absolutely.

“Book that instead. (Or not, it’s just my personal theory).”

It’s also interesting that, according to any number of fan theories, Tyrion might be the true heir to the Iron Throne anyway. Consider that his father hated him for many reasons, not the least because his wife died while giving birth to Tyrion.

But was Tywin Lannister really Tyrion’s father? What if Joanna Lannister gave in to Mad King Aerys Targaryen’s “lust” — as it’s described in the books — and gave birth to Tyrion? Just a theory.

It’s interesting that the oddsmakers have Jon (+800) and Daenerys (+1,500) at such high odds. These two have long been considered the front-runners. They are Targaryens. They have a right of accession. They’ve been leaders.

But Jon is the “meh” candidate, who has stated about 600 times over the course of the series that he doesn’t want to be a ruler.

After destroying much of the city in last week’s episode, it’s pretty clear Dany is the leader no one wants. And that Jon, her onetime lover, is going to have to stop her.

“Daenerys went the full Walter White,” posted hrdp453 on Reddit. “You never go full Walter White.”

So much has been written and predicted about these two, let’s move on to the less obvious choices: Arya and Gendry.

What’s not to love about Arya (other than that sideline assassination avocation)? She’s loyal and brave and wicked good with a sword/dagger in either hand. Like her sister, she has common sense. Unlike her sister, she seems unlikely to want to settle down, even with Gendry.

(Many theorize that Arya, she of the many faces, might use one to get close enough to Dany to kill her. The downside; there’s always this kind of silly Gene Parmesan vibe — anyone here a fan of “Arrested Development”? Yet, it’s worked before).

As for Gendry, in an early series episode, Cersei mentions a dark-haired child of hers that died. Could he be the offspring of Robert Baratheon and Cersei?

Were Varys still alive, he’d have the inside info. But HBO is guarding the final cut with the online equivalent of dragons. By Sunday night, it’s a wrap.

One thing is certain: as predicted by Yurk Yurk, a poster on the Sydney Morning Herald site: “No matter who ends up ruling, there will be viewers who are angry about it.”
