No arrests or citations during Brooks concert

Garth Brooks may sing that he has friends in low places, but none of them were in the Allegheny County Jail as of late Saturday night.

Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesman Chris Togneri reported that there were no arrests and no citations written by Pittsburgh police on the detail for the country star’s concert at Heinz Field, which attracted roughly 75,000 attendees, making it the largest ticketed event in the city’s history.

Emergency medical services took 22 people to the hospital and treated an additional 75 people, the majority of which were for heat-related issues.

Large country music concerts at the Heinz Field have been under scrutiny since a 2013 Kenny Chesney concert there resulted in 73 arrests and an estimated 60,000 pounds of trash were left behind in stadium parking lots. The aftermath sparked outrage, and prompted changes in policing strategies.
