A Night of Hope

I#HopeFilled: Gisele Fetterman, the second lady of Pennsylvania, arrived at Nova Place on the North Side on Thursday night for A Night of Hope to benefit Power Promises. As the honorary chair, she mingled with 300 guests as they enjoyed a buffet of food stations and a live auction.

“I am a very proud board member of Power, and I have seen lives change before my eyes because the work they do is incredible,” said Mrs. Fetterman. “They just want to be loved like we all do.” Power’s mission is to help women toward recovery through mentoring, residential treatment, counseling and more.

“This is our first year here, and it feels fresh and new, but you know, the reason we are here is the same as always — to raise funds for Power,” said Power CEO Rosa Davis. “We serve about 1,500 women each year, and this is lifesaving work.”

For her community efforts, Dr. Karen Hacker, director of the Allegheny County Health Department, was presented with the Seeds of Hope Award. Among those enjoying the auctioneering prowess of former Mayor Tom Murphy were his wife, Mona; Board President Emmie Calland; Kristi Rogers; Bob Fragasso; Sherree Goldstein; Tim Ward; Jody Schurman; Susan Orr; Steven and Andrea Alschuler; Caesar Azzam; and Braddock’s Mayor Chardae Jones.
