Kindness abounds after Florida vacation mishap

-

I recently went on a vacation to Daytona Beach Shores. I thought a beautiful week in the Florida sun would get rid of the polar vortex blues.

On the first day, two of my friends and I went for a walk on the beach. I should preface this by saying that one of those friends lives in Daytona Beach Shores and walks the beach daily. No sooner did I start walking when I was told by my friend from Florida to watch for holes in the sand. I then fell into said hole — one of many — falling on my right arm and breaking it.

My thanks go to the lovely gentlemen who were on the beach, one of whom helped me get up and the other who then walked me up the stairs to the condo to get my bearings and proceed from there to the hospital. Sorry I interrupted your last day on the beach.

Also to the wonderful residents of the Oceans IV condominium who got me water, cleaned me up, and sat with me until I went to the hospital. Thanks to Joe, Myra and countless others who were angels in a very distressing time. I will not forget you and hopefully will see you all soon.

There are random acts of kindness everywhere. SHEILA HOWE
