India braces for storm

-

Two months after suffering a blow from Cyclone Fani, India is in line for severe cyclone again as Cyclone Vayu churns nearby.

India’s coastal state of Gujarat — and its more than 60 million residents — will be in the crosshairs of a dangerous storm, set to bring flooding rains, high winds and a several-foot-high storm surge as early as Thursday.

Vayu has sustained winds of 100 mph, gusting to 125 mph, making it the equivalent of a Category 2 hurricane. The system is expected to intensify before a slow weakening trend starts Thursday evening.
