Pedestrian struck, killed in Penn Hills

A 66-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in Penn Hills.

“An elderly person was crossing the street and an elderly driver struck him,” Penn Hills police Chief Howard Burton said. The identity of the victim has not been released.

The incident occurred about 1:15 p.m. in the 7200 block of Saltsburg Road near the McDonald’s.

“There are no crosswalks there,” Chief Burton said. The area has shopping centers and fast-food restaurant­s.

Allegheny County police said the driver, who was in a Toyota Corolla, remained on the scene.

County homicide detectives are handling the investigat­ion. As of Wednesday evening, no charges had been filed.
