Ohio man is accused of laptop theft spree
An Ohio man has been charged with stealing laptop computers from numerous businesses last summer in the Park West office complex in Findlay.
Findlay police said a warrant had been obtained for Leroy Lummie Glass Jr., 62, of Cleveland, in connection with “multiple forcible entry burglaries” in office buildings off Cliff Mine Road in August and September 2018.
According to a criminal complaint, Mr. Glass broke into the Stella-Jones Corp. office in Park West One building Aug. 24, 2018, and took three laptops believed to be worth more than $750. The same day, investigators said, he also went into the Future Technology Staffing office in Park West Two building and took two more laptops believed to be worth a combined $4,000.
Then on Sept. 28, investigators said, Mr. Glass and an unidentified man broke into the Walsh Granite office in Park West Two building and took a laptop worth about $1,200.
Mr. Glass also forced his way into another building in the complex that day, but he did not take anything, according to the complaint.
Police were able to recover a fingerprint from the evidence investigators collected at the scene that matched the right thumb print of Mr. Glass, the complaint said.
Investigators also reviewed security camera footage from the second burglary that showed a man matching Mr. Glass’ description breaking into the office.
Mr. Glass also fit the description of a man caught on security camera footage during several burglaries in the city of Pittsburgh, according to the complaint.
Police discovered that Mr. Glass was jailed in Ohio on charges stemming from a burglary in Youngstown, Ohio, he allegedly committed on his way to the Pittsburgh area.
