Robert Morris quarterbac­k George Martin threw an intercepti­on on fourth-and-23 from the Dayton 35 with 2:08 remaining as the Colonials lost, 34-31, Saturday at Joe Walton Stadium in Moon.

The Colonials (0-3) got the ball when Mason Gray forced a fumble by Sean Prophit with 5:16 left. Tavin Harville recovered the fumble, but Robert Morris went nowhere on its next three plays. Tim Simon then intercepte­d Martin and returned it 64 yards, allowing the Flyers (2-0) to run out the clock. Martin threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns and Alijah Jackson ran for 135 yards for Robert Morris.

“There are a few simple things that could’ve put us up and won the game for us,” Martin said.

Youngstown State 34, Duquesne 14: The host Penguins (3-0) took advantage of three Duquesne turnovers, and quarterbac­k Mark Waid rushed for two touchdowns in the first half. Dukes quarterbac­k Daniel Parr threw two intercepti­ons, the first leading to a 21-yard touchdown pass from Joe Craycraft to London Pearson 30 seconds later. The Dukes (1-1) cut the lead to 21-7 before the half with Bethel Park graduate Jake Dixon’s first career touchdown reception.

Carnegie Mellon 31, Geneva 6: Chris Haas ran for two touchdowns in the second quarter to give the visiting Tartans (2-0, 1-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) a 17-3 lead at the half. JD Dayhuff threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns for Carnegie Mellon. Geneva fell to 0-2, 0-1.

Washington & Jefferson 59, Thiel 0: Jacob Adams tossed four touchdowns in the first quarter, two each to Andrew Wolf and Cameron O’Brien, and the No. 15 Presidents (2-0, 1-0 PAC) led, 520, at the half. They outgained the host Tomcats (0-2, 0-1) in total offense, 467 yards to 127.

IUP 54, Millersvil­le 0: The 24th-ranked Crimson Hawks led, 40-0, at the half behind three touchdowns from Duane Brown, two receiving and one rushing. IUP (2-0) rolled up 560 yards of total offense to just 26 for the host Marauders (1-1).

Slippery Rock 54, Shippensbu­rg 19: Roland Rivers III threw for 369 yards for host Slippery Rock (2-0). His favorite target was Henry Litwin, who caught nine passes for 150 yards. Jermaine Wynn Jr. added 133 yards receiving. Shippensbu­rg (0-2) was penalized 22 times for 180 yards.

Kutztown 35, California 28: Nelson Brown’s 7-yard touchdown run tied the score, 28-28, with 2:18 left, but the visiting Golden Bears (2-0) drove back down the field and won with 15 seconds to go on a 34-yard pass from Collin DiGalbo to Jack Pilkerton. The Vulcans fell to 1-1.

East Stroudsbur­g 31, Seton Hill 18: Logan Wiland ran for 236 yards and two touchdowns, but the host Griffins (0-1) lost their opener. The Warriors improved to 2-0.
