Dukes, RMU win on road

Mark Allen scored the goahead touchdown from the 1 midway through the fourth quarter to lift Duquesne to a 35-31 victory Saturday at Dayton.

The Flyers drove to the Dukes 31 on their ensuing possession but turned the ball over on downs with 1:43 remaining in the game.

Allen piled up 38 yards rushing on the decisive 10play, 75-yard drive for the Dukes (2-1). Dayton (2-1) took a 31-28 lead on a 32yard field goal with 11:27 remaining in the game.

The Dukes offense revolved around Allen, who carried the ball 30 times for 168 yards, scoring twice. Quarterbac­k Daniel Parr completed 18 of 22 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns, also running for a 3-yard score.

The offenses combined for 766 yards. The game featured just one punt.

Robert Morris 31, VMI 21: The Colonials (1-3) won for the first time this season and on the road for the first time since 2015, snapping a 21-game skid away from Joe Walton Stadium. Senior Heavon Price, who had all of three tackles last season, registered 10 tackles and forced a fumble that put Robert Morris up, 14-3, late in the first quarter. Sophomore running back eclipsed 100 yards rushing for the second consecutiv­e game, rushing 20 times for 125 yards. Robert Morris took a 7-0 lead 5:26 into the game when he raced 47 yards for a touchdown. Caleb Lewis, a graduate student who was on the roster at LSU for two seasons, started at quarterbac­k and finished 12 of 17 for 214 yards with a touchdown and intercepti­on.

Carnegie Mellon 20, Washington & Jefferson 13: The host Tartans (3-0, 2-0 Presidents’ Athletic Conference) upset the 12th-ranked Presidents to remain unbeaten. The Tartans scored the go-ahead touchdown with 5:11 left in the game when quarterbac­k JD Dayhuff connected with Willie Richter from 29 yards. Both of the Presidents’ touchdowns came from the combinatio­n of quarterbac­k Jacob Adams and wide receiver/tight end Cameron O’Brien on passes of 10 and 94 yards. The Tartans had lost five in a row to W&J since rejoining the conference.

IUP 77, Lock Haven 14: The host No. 24 Crimson Hawks (3-0) rolled up 608 yards of total offense as quarterbac­ks Quinton Maxwell and Jalen Reese combined to complete 25 of 28 passes and throw seven touchdowns to seven receivers. Dwine Walls caught five passes for 108 yards. Lock Haven dropped to 1-2.

California 58, Shippensbu­rg 7: The host Vulcans (21) forced four turnovers, scoring four touchdowns in the second quarter, against the Raiders (0-3). Noah Mitchell threw four touchdowns, two of them to Jordan Dandridge, who had six catches for 107 yards. Tyson Hill had four catches for 101 yards.

Slippery Rock 49, Millersvil­le 0: Roland Rivers III threw for 339 yards and six touchdowns as host No. 11 Slippery Rock (3-0) led, 280, after the first quarter. Cinque Sweeting caught three touchdowns, including one for 87 yards to close the scoring.

West Chester 29, Seton Hill 0: The Griffins (0-2) managed just eight first downs and 112 yards of offense against the host Golden Rams (3-0), ranked 18th in Division II.
