Club seats pricey for expansion team

-

Seattle’s NHL expansion franchise released initial pricing for club seats Wednesday, and, suffice it to say, they will not come cheaply.

The team said club seats at rebuilt Key Arena will each cost between $285 and $355 per game based on a 44game season-ticket package. The 2,600 club seats will be sold only on three-, five- or seven-year terms.

The prices per seat work out to between $12,540 and $15,620 annually, according to a breakdown provided by the Seattle Times.

Aside from club seats, the team said 80% of the suites in the arena have already been sold.

Fans who already have made a deposit for season tickets will have a chance to shop for seat locations starting Thursday.

The team says general seats will start at $50 per game and there will be some single-game tickets starting at $20.

Seattle’s franchise is slated to begin play in the 2021-22 season.

Blue Jackets

It was a night of firsts Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, as the host Blue Jackets handed the Dallas Stars a 3-2 loos that was their fourth in a row.

For example, Columbus’ Sonny Milano and Alexander Wennberg scored for the first time this season. For another, Blue Jackets rookie Jakob Lilja recorded his first NHL point with an assist.

And then, there was Dallas forward Corey Perry, a pricey off-season free-agent acquisition who finally made his first regular-season appearance for the Stars after being out with a broken foot.

But the most significant first belonged to the Stars’ Joe Pavelski, Dallas’ other high-priced, free-agent acquisition this past offseason. The longtime San Jose Sharks forward and captain finally notched his first goal of the regular season and, of course, his first as a Dallas Star.
