412 Food Rescue
#BonAppetit: The fourth annual Sunday Supper was held Oct. 6 at This Is Red in Homestead. The event was 412 Food Rescue’s most significant of the year with more than 200 guests enjoying a feast of six courses to help fight food insecurity in our city. Award-winning star chefs came from around the country to create the special supper. “We love this event because it is an opportunity for us to get together on a Sunday night with some of our dearest supporters,” said Leah Lizarondo, the organization’s cofounder. “We are also very grateful to chef Jamilka Borges, who has led this event for four years,” she noted. The executive chef runs Lorelei and sister restaurants Independent Brewing Company and Hidden Harbor. Pastry chef Dianne DeStefano works with her and prepared the desserts for the evening. “This is my second year being a part of this, and it is an honor,” she said. “412 Food Rescue does an incredible important work,” she added. “This is the best attended dinner yet,” said Sara Swaney, director of advancement. “The event raised over $84,000 for 412 Food Rescue’s work through sponsorships, ticket sales, silent auction and donations.”
#SEEN: Chefs donating their time were Kevin Fink, Alison Trent, Tim Ma, Edouardo Jordan and Kwame Onwuachi. Jim and Diane Langton represented presenting sponsor Bank of America.
