Grown Up Play Date

- Patricia Sheridan

#GetaClue: The Energy Innovation Center, Hill District, was the venue for Every Child Inc.’s annual “Grown Up Play Date” Friday night. This year, 120 guests participated in a whodunnit game with the help of Duquesne University’s forensic science and law department and Pam Marshall. Clues were deciphered at various stations looking for DNA, fingerprints and more. “Events like this where we are engaging the community help to get the word out that our resources are available to the community,” said executive director Laura Maines. “Every Child takes care of kids — we make sure every child in our community has a safe home, and to do that we help families, too.” Every Child also helps provide transportation and equipment to children who want to participate in a sport. “I have been with Every Child for four years, and I have been impressed with the ability of the executive director and the staff to help children in our community,” said board president Kristen Del Sole Eberle (with Todd). “Every child deserves a chance, a good family and to know how important they are,” she noted. A silent auction offered guests a chance to bid between bites while they listened to the music of the Hewett Anderson Band.
