- Patricia Sheridan

#DigIt: The Christian East-African Equatorial Development organization known as CEED celebrated its 20th anniversary with “Water Solutions for Africa” at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Oakland, last Thursday. In two decades the group has provided 360 wells, which have benefited 600,000 people. Providing clean water to promote economic opportunity is the mission. “The 20th anniversary is a miracle in itself,” noted founder and board president Graham Hodgetts (with Eileen). “This is a wonderful opportunity to spread the news of what clean water can do around the world for people who really struggle to live.” Worth Helms (with Janet), a founding member, welcomed the more than 155 supporters to dinner. His wife created 20th anniversary books for each guest documenting CEED’s work called “Where’s the Clean Water?” Herbert Asiimwe, managing director of CEED Uganda, talked about the progress they are making and the importance of the 70 wells in the Mubende District. He is also the director of operations at the Wambabya Coffee Farm, a self- sustaining operation that helped raise funds for the wells. CEED repaired a broken water system to the Kambi Ya Juu Primary School in Marsabit County, Kenya.
