Pine-Richland passes test, wins 35-21

Class 6A No. 3-ranked Pine-Richland was tested by No. 5 Seneca Valley before picking up a 35-21 victory Friday night in the Quad County Conference.

Rams quarterbac­k Cole Spencer accounted for four touchdowns. He scored the first touchdown of the game with a 3-yard run in the first quarter before adding a 1yard plunge in the second. In the third, he found Eli Jochem for consecutiv­e touchdown passes that covered 35 and 80 yards. Spencer completed 23 of 31 passes for 326 yards. He ran for another 36 yards on 14 attempts. Jochem hauled in nine passes for 169 yards.

Luke Meckler added a 95-yard kickoff return for Pine-Richland (8-1, 6-1).

Seneca Valley (3-6, 3-4) got a big game from Gabe Lawson, who threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns.

Pine-Richland has won three games in a row. The Raiders stumbled for a second consecutiv­e week.

North Allegheny 33, West Allegheny 14: No. 1 North Allegheny (9-0) raced to a 20-0 halftime lead and cruised to a non-conference victory against the Indians (3-5) from Class 5A. Percise Colon scored on runs of 6 and 5 yards and finished with 52 yards on eight carries.

Hempfield 55, Butler 28: The Spartans (3-6, 2-6) snapped a five-game losing skid by racking up their highest point total of the year. Nathan Roby carried 24 times for 297 yards and six touchdowns. He scored on runs of 2, 70, 2, 1, 2 and 8 yards. Cooper Baxter of Butler (0-9, 0-7) threw for 78 yards and ran for 32 and a touchdown. Hempfield held a 471-257 edge in total yardage.

Central Catholic 44, Canon-McMillan 0: Edward Tillman ran all over the Big Macs in the Quad County Conference game and led the Vikings (8-1, 6-1) to their sixth win a row. Tillman carried the ball 10 times for 175 yards and scored on runs of 57, 18, 42 and 16 yards. He scored the first four touchdowns for Central Catholic, which built a 30-0 lead by halftime. The Big Macs (2-7, 2-5) have lost three of their past four games.

Mt. Lebanon 45, Norwin 16: Mason Ventrone (167 yards rushing) and Visawn Pennix (100 yards rushing) each hit the century mark in a blowout win in the Quad County Conference for the Blue Devils (6-3, 5-2).
