Second WR transfers in same week

- By The Associated Press

Michigan State receiver Cam Chambers entered the transfer portal, the second Spartans receiver to make the move in less than a week.

The school confirmed the move Thursday. The Spartans have this weekend off before playing host Oct. 26 to Penn State.

Chambers had 19 catches for 264 yards in the 2018 season, but in 2019 he has played in only two games with no receptions.

Earlier in the week, the school said wide receiver Weston Bridges also was entering the transfer portal.

Tennessee

Nick Saban was coaching the NFL’s Miami Dolphins the most recent time Alabama lost to Tennessee.

The current players from both teams were mostly in elementary school. The top-ranked Crimson Tide has won the past 12 meetings in this traditional Third Saturday in October rivalry, mostly by large margins.

The Volunteers are hoping to end that bitter streak and break out the traditional victory cigars once again Saturday night at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

“It means everything to me, man,” Tennessee linebacker Darrell Taylor said. “It’s a cigar game. Whoever wins gets to smoke that cigar, and we ain’t never got it yet. So that’s what we’re looking to go do. We’re looking to go play and looking to go win.”

Alabama

Defensive lineman Antonio Alfano officially has entered the NCAA transfer portal, a source told ESPN.

The true freshman was the No. 28 recruit in the 2019 class out of Colonia High School in Colonia, N.J., and was the fourth-highest-ranked recruit for the Crimson Tide.

Saban went on to say the defensive end stopped going to class and to the football facilities, and that Alabama tried to set up counseling for the firstyear player.

“Until he responds, you just have to assume the guy quit,” Saban said at the time.
