1947 A financial drive to back Henry A. Wallace as a third-party candidate for president was launched in Pittsburgh at Syria Mosque, where he spoke to an overflow crowd.
1969 The children’s educational program “Sesame Street” made its debut on National Educational Television (later PBS).
