2 arrested in Denny’s shooting

-

Two suspects have been arrested in the armed robbery at a Virginia Denny’s that left one man dead and another wounded.

Jordan Anderson, 22, of Manassas, Va., was taken into custody early Sunday. His alleged co-conspirator, Ryan Thomas Walker, 22, of Chesapeake Beach, Md., was apprehended Sunday afternoon.

Police and the FBI had been searching for the suspects since the Dec. 26 shooting, when two men entered the Manassas diner at 2:20 a.m. armed with a handgun and a baton. They shot and injured a 34-year-old patron, who survived, then attacked another at the door. Yusuf Ozgur, a 56-year-old handyman and delivery driver, was picking up an order for DoorDash. One suspect bashed him on the head with the baton; the other shot and killed him.

Forensic evidence collected at the scene led detectives to Mr. Anderson, the alleged shooter. He was apprehended in Virginia and charged with murder, malicious wounding and using a firearm in commission of a felony.

By Sunday afternoon, Mr. Walker had been arrested in Maryland.

Investigators believe Mr. Anderson and Mr. Walker are responsible for three other recent robberies in the Washington, D.C., suburbs. On Dec. 21, the men allegedly robbed a Manassas bowling alley. On Christmas Eve, police said, they robbed a Manassas Comfort Inn and a

Woodbridge, Va., Walgreens. Each time, hoods and face coverings masked their identities.

1 dead in Md. crash

A small plane crashed into a two-story house in the New Carrollton area of Prince George’s County, Maryland, on Sunday, killing the pilot and sparking a fire, authorities said.

The plane was a singleengine aircraft that only holds one person, acting fire Chief Tiffany Green said. She said it hit the carport of the house from behind and pushed a car into the street. She said the pilot is the only known injury or fatality.

The pilot was not immediately identified.

Flames were visible near the house and from a car, according to the College Park Volunteer Fire Department and photos posted to Twitter.

White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump declined to say whether she would remain in Washington if her father wins reelection in 2020, describing the decision as one that will depend on what’s in the best interests of her children.

Ms. Trump, the eldest daughter of President Donald Trump, made the remarks in an interview with CBS News’ “Face the Nation” that aired Sunday.

“I am driven first and foremost by my kids and their happiness,” Ms. Trump said when asked whether she plans to remain in Washington should her father win a second term. “So, that’s always going to be my top priority.”
