PROTEST FOR PEACE
Zuhair Alkhateb, of Squirrel Hill, waves to passersby Saturday in Oakland during a demonstration against the U.S. military sending more troops to the Middle East. Mr. Alkhateb, an Iraqi refugee, was an interpreter for the U.S. military for four months in 2011. “If the American Army leaves the Middle East, it will get back our country. This is destroying freedom. We want peace for all,” Mr. Alkhateb said. The protest comes in the aftermath of the killing of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani by a U.S. airstrike in Iraq.
