CITY Jefferson Hills officer dies from injuries

-

A Jefferson Hills police officer died Saturday from injuries from a crash that happened earlier this month.

Dale Provins, who served in the department for 15 years, was injured in an on-duty collision that left him in critical condition for over a week.

In a statement, the department said Officer Provins’ colleagues “admired him, his sense of humor and kindness.”

The crash happened about 8:15 a.m. on June 3 and is under investigation by the South Hills Area Council of Governments Crash Team. The collision was head on, and a civilian was also hospitalized as a result of the crash.

Police said Officer Provins was driving northbound and the civilian was driving southbound when they collided in the northbound side of Old Clairton Road.
