The Frick Pittsburgh delays reopening date
The Frick Pittsburgh will delay the reopening of its grounds until July 14 and its buildings until Aug. 15 in response to new COVID-19 guidelines. The art museum and cultural venue in Point Breeze had planned to reopen Tuesday.
On Thursday, Dr. Debra L. Bogen, Allegheny County’s health director, recommended that Allegheny County residents voluntarily remain at home to stop the spread of the new coronavirus. The county reported 233 new cases on Thursday, a sharp increase. Dr. Bogen also ordered that public gatherings be limited to a maximum of 25 people.
After the announcement, The Frick announced that it would delay reopening its 5-acre grounds by one week, said spokesman Greg Langel.
In addition to the art museum, The Frick campus includes gardens and a greenhouse, a car and carriage museum, and Clayton, the home of industrialist Henry Clay Frick. The gardens are scheduled to reopen at 10 a.m. July 14. The art museum and Car and Carriage Museum are scheduled to reopen Aug. 15. Timed tickets will be required for entry and will be available beginning Aug. 1. Hours will be 10 a.m. until dusk Tuesdays through Sundays. Tours of Clayton have been suspended.
Members of The Frick Pittsburgh received an email Thursday that said: “The Frick Pittsburgh is committed to the health and safety of our staff and community. In accordance with the stay-at-home recommendation issued by Allegheny County this afternoon, The Frick Pittsburgh will delay the reopening of our grounds by one week.”
