Allegheny reports 66 new virus cases, one more death
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County dropped to 66 on Saturday, with 12 additional hospitalizations and one new death. The person died on July 29 and was in their 80s, the county said.
The positive COVID-19 results came from 1,459 tests, a positivity rate below 5%. It is the fewest number of cases reported by the county on any one day since June 26, when the county reported 61 cases. The positive tests spanned from July 7 to July 31 and those who tested positive ranged in age between 1 and 90, with a median age of 37.
Since March 14, Allegheny County has seen 8,160 cases of COVID-19, with 681 hospitalizations and 240 deaths.
There were four deaths reported in Western Pennsylvania, with Greene County reporting its first death Saturday. Beaver and Lawrence counties also reported one death each.
Erie County had the second-highest number of reported positive cases in Western Pennsylvania with 31 on Saturday. Fayette County (16), Lawrence County (14), Westmoreland County (13) and Mercer County (10), also reported double-digit positive cases on Saturday.
Pennsylvania reported an additional 888 positive COVID-19 cases Saturday, with 15 additional deaths. Total cases in Pennsylvania are now at 112,936 with 7,204 deaths statewide.
