Allegheny reports 61 new virus cases

New daily reported cases of COVID-19 continued to decline Sunday in Allegheny County, with the Department of Health reporting 61 cases — continuing a stretch of what has mostly been days with double-digit increases.

The new cases were based on 1,195 test results. New cases range in age from 15 to 84 years with a median age of 49 years. The dates of positive tests ranged from July 13 through Aug. 8

The county also reported one new death Sunday and four new hospitaliz­ations. The newly reported death occurred Wednesday and involved a person in their 50s who was associated with a long-term care facility.

Statewide, the Pennsylvan­ia Department of Health reported 760 new cases for a total of 118,852 cases to date.

The state reported one COVID-19 related death, though the location was not known due to a delay in data reporting.

Since March 14, there have been 8,857 cases of COVID-19 involving Allegheny County residents, 734 hospitaliz­ations and 259 deaths.

• Greene: 116 (up 2)

• Indiana: 320 (up 7)

• Jefferson: 71 (up 3)

• Lawrence: 391 (up 1)

• Mercer: 437 (up 18)

• Somerset: 134 (up 1)

• Venango: 63 (no change)

• Washington: 840 (up 11)

• Westmorela­nd: 1,537 (up 14)
