County reports 54 new cases, no deaths
Allegheny County reported 54 new cases of COVID- 19 on Thursday and no new deaths.
The new cases resulted from 859 tests taken between Sept. 2 and Sept. 9. The positives range in age from 12 to 83 years old, with a median age of 27.
Fifty- three cases are confirmed and one is considered a probable case. The county has had a total of 10,969 positive COVID- 19 cases since mid-March.
The county death toll remains at 358.
Across the state, Pennsylvania saw an increase of 587 new cases — 126 of which were in Western Pennsylvania — bringing the state total to 141,877.
The state Health Department reported an increase of 15 deaths; 7,820 people have died in Pennsylvania as a result of COVID- 19.
Of the newly reported deaths, two were in Western Pennsylvania, one each in Beaver and Erie counties.
In Allegheny County, 1,042 people have been hospitalized because of the virus, with 66 currently in the hospital. Across the state, 488 people are currently hospitalized.
