County reports 54 new cases, no deaths

Allegheny County reported 54 new cases of COVID- 19 on Thursday and no new deaths.

The new cases resulted from 859 tests taken between Sept. 2 and Sept. 9. The positives range in age from 12 to 83 years old, with a median age of 27.

Fifty- three cases are confirmed and one is considered a probable case. The county has had a total of 10,969 positive COVID- 19 cases since mid-March.

The county death toll remains at 358.

Across the state, Pennsylvan­ia saw an increase of 587 new cases — 126 of which were in Western Pennsylvan­ia — bringing the state total to 141,877.

The state Health Department reported an increase of 15 deaths; 7,820 people have died in Pennsylvan­ia as a result of COVID- 19.

Of the newly reported deaths, two were in Western Pennsylvan­ia, one each in Beaver and Erie counties.

In Allegheny County, 1,042 people have been hospitaliz­ed because of the virus, with 66 currently in the hospital. Across the state, 488 people are currently hospitaliz­ed.

• Greene: 153 ( up 1)

• Indiana: 485 ( up 6)

• Jefferson: 101 ( up 1)

• Lawrence: 480 ( up 1)

• Mercer: 617 ( up 5)

• Venango: 74 ( no change)

• Washington: 1,163 ( up 7)

• Westmorela­nd: 1,925 ( up 11) Nursing and personal care homes

• Allegheny: 100 facilities, 1,403 cases among residents, 477 cases among employees, 271 deaths ( up 16)

• Armstrong: 7 facilities, 106 cases among residents, 18 cases among employees, 12 deaths ( no change)

• Beaver: 7 facilities, 599 cases among residents, 125 cases among employees, 105 deaths ( up 1)

• Butler: 16 facilities, 36 cases among residents, 26 cases among employees, 4 deaths ( no change)

• Clarion: 3 facilities, 18 cases among residents, 15 cases among employees, 1 death ( no change)

• Erie: 20 facilities, 174 cases among residents, 113 cases among employees, 38 deaths ( no change)

• Fayette: 7 facilities, 18 cases among residents, 16 cases among employees, 1 death ( no change)

• Greene: 2 facilities, 2 cases among residents, 2 cases among employees, 0 deaths ( no change)

• Indiana: 12 facilities, 39 cases among residents, 13 cases among employees, 4 deaths ( no change)

• Lawrence: 8 facilities, 52 cases among residents, 41 cases among employees, 8 deaths ( no change)
