Plum stuns Mars in 4A Greater Allegheny

Mustangs hand Planets first loss of this season

Ryan Hubner threw three touchdown passes and ran for another to lead Plum to a 49- 21 upset of Mars in a Greater Allegheny Conference showdown at Mars Athletic Complex.

The Planets ( 2- 1, 2- 1) were ranked No. 3 in Class 4A. The win earns the Mustangs ( 30, 3- 0) sole possession of first place in the conference.

Hubner completed 8 of 12 passes for 98 yards and connected with Reed Martin on touchdown passes of 7 and 10 yards and with Max Matolcsy from 20 yards out. Hubner also ran 31 yards for a score on an option play.

Teddy Ruffner ran for all three Mars touchdowns and led all rushers with 186 yards.

More Class 4A

Montour 19, Keystone Oaks 7: Gannon Kadlecik rushed for 141 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 32 and 48 yards to lead the visiting Spartans ( 2- 1), a Class 4A squad to win over the Golden Eagles ( 2- 1), ranked No. 4 in Class 3A, in a non- conference game.

McKeesport 10, Trinity 7: Milton Campos kicked a 22- yard field goal with 7: 00 left to provide the winning points, as the No. 5 ranked Tigers ( 2- 1, 1- 1) edged the visiting Hillers ( 1- 2, 1- 2) in the Big Eight Conference.

Blackhawk 38, Ambridge 7: Carson Davidson scored on touchdown runs of 6 and 39 yards to lead the host Cougars ( 2- 1) to a non- conference win over the Bridgers ( 0- 3). Davidson also completed 11 of 18 passes for 178 yards.

West Mifflin 27, Laurel Highlands 20: Chance Edwards returned an intercepti­on 42 yards for a touchdown with 0: 54 left in the third quarter to provide the deciding points, as the host Titans ( 1- 2, 1- 2) pulled out a Big Eight Conference win over the Mustangs ( 1- 2, 1- 1).

Armstrong 34, Knoch 7: Cadin Olsen threw four touchdown passes to lead the River Hawks ( 2- 1, 2- 1) to a Greater Allegheny Conference victory over the host Knights ( 0- 3, 0- 3). Olsen completed 17 of 31 passes for 327 yards.

Class 3A

South Park 41, Brownsvill­e 6: The Eagles ( 3- 0, 3- 0) scored 27 unanswered points in the second half to record a convincing victory over the host Falcons ( 0- 3, 02) in the Interstate Conference. Harper Conroy scored on a 7- yard run and connected with Luke Smith on a 22- yard touchdown run.

South Allegheny 41, Yough 9: Antonio Epps rushed for 149 yards and three touchdowns, as the visiting Gladiators ( 1- 2, 1- 2) dominated the Cougars ( 1- 2, 0- 2) in the Interstate Conference. Epps also caught a 42yard touchdown pass from Eric Wehrer.

Avonworth 19, South Side Beaver 16: Nathan Harper threw touchdown passes to Peyton Faulkner and August Newhouse- Godine, as the visiting Antelopes ( 2- 1) posted a narrow win over the Rams ( 1- 2) in a non-Conference game. Harper completed 6 of 12 passes for 101 yards.
