Washington races past Chartiers- Houston
Washington received a bit of a scare Friday night at Chartiers- Houston in the Class 2A Century Conference.
But the WPIAL No. 3- ranked Little Prexies ( 3- 0, 3- 0) pulled away from the upset- minded Buccaneers with 31 consecutive points to come away with a 45- 14 victory. Jimmy Sadler’s 69- yard kickoff return gave Chartiers-Houston ( 1- 1, 1- 2) a short- lived 14- 14 deadlock early in the second quarter. By halftime, Washington led ,31- 14.
Amari Miller led a Washington surge after the early deadlock by rushing for 257 yards on 21 carries while scoring three touchdowns. Miller capped the Little Prexies impressive showing down the stretch via a 44- yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Washington outrushed Chartiers- Houston 347 yards to minus 21.

Charleroi 7, Waynesburg 6: Nikko Pellegrini’s 10- yard run with 39 seconds remaining in the third quarter gave the Cougars ( 1- 2, 1- 2) their first victory of the season in the Century Conference at Waynesburg ( 0- 3, 0- 3).
McGuffey 42, Frazier 0: The No. 2 Highlanders ( 3- 0, 3- 0) blanked the visiting Commodores ( 1- 2, 1- 1) in the Century Conference.
Beaver Falls 54, Ellwood City 26: The top- ranked Tigers ( 3- 0, 3- 0) sprinted past the Wolverines ( 0- 3, 0- 3) in Midwestern Conference
Neshannock 54, Freedom 20: Neshannock ( 2- 1, 2- 1) routed Freedom ( 1- 2, 1- 2) in the Midwestern Conference. Cam’ron Owens scored four touchdowns for Neshannock, including a 78- yard scoring run.
New Brighton 27, Mohawk 14: The No. 4 Lions ( 3- 0, 3- 0) earned a hard- fought victory at Mohawk ( 1- 2, 1- 2) in the Midwestern Conference.
Laurel 41, Riverside 13: The Spartans ( 2
1, 2- 1) topped the Panthers ( 0- 3, 0- 3) in the Midwestern Conference.
Serra Catholic 57, Carlynton 0: The Eagles ( 2- 0) scored a one- sided win over the visiting Cougars ( 1- 2) in a non- conference contest. Machai Brooks led Serra with 153 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
Steel Valley 14, Brentwood 12: The Ironmen ( 1- 1) edged the host Spartans ( 2- 1) in a non- conference encounter.
Apollo- Ridge 56, Burrell 8: The No. 5 Vikings ( 3- 0) easily defeated 3A Burrell ( 1- 2) in a non- conference matchup. Jake Fello led Apollo- Ridge with five touchdowns.
Sto- Rox 44, Shady Side Academy 42: The Vikings ( 2- 1) edged Shady Side Academy ( 0- 1) in an entertaining non- conference game.

Union 34, Northgate 14: Union ( 1- 2, 1- 2) downed the Flames ( 0- 3, 0- 3) in the Big Seven Conference. Union’s Tyler Staub completed 19 of 31 passes for three touchdowns.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 35, Fort Cherry 13: The No. 3 Chargers ( 3- 0, 3- 0) won at Fort Cherry ( 0- 3, 0- 3) in Big Seven competition. Jaymar Pearson led OLSH with 209 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
Rochester 29, Burgettstown 7: The Rams ( 3- 0, 3- 0) claimed victory at Burgettstown ( 1- 2, 1- 2) in the Big Seven. Rashawn Reid led the Rams with 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
Shenango 68, Cornell 14: No. 4 Shenango ( 3- 0, 3- 0) remained unbeaten with a victory at Cornell ( 1- 2, 1- 2) in the Big Seven.
Bishop Canevin 14, Greensburg C. C. 12: The Crusaders ( 2- 1, 2- 1) edged host Greensburg Central Catholic ( 1- 2, 1- 2) in the Eastern Conference.
Jeannette 45, Imani Christian 0: The No. 2 Jayhawks ( 2- 1, 2- 1) shutout the Saints ( 0- 3, 0- 3) in the Eastern Conference.
Springdale 45, Leechburg 19: The homestanding Dynamos ( 3- 0, 3- 0) routed the Blue Devils ( 1- 2, 1- 2) in the Eastern Conference. Demitri Fritch led Springdale by completing 7 of 10 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
Clairton 66, Riverview 0: The top- ranked Bears ( 3- 0,3- 0) blew out the Raiders ( 0- 3, 0- 3) in the Eastern Conference.
California 49, Mapletown 18: The Trojans ( 2- 0, 2- 0) dominated the host Maples ( 0- 3, 03) in the Tri- County South Conference.
Carmichaels 41, Bentworth 16: The visiting Mikes ( 3- 0, 3- 0) remained unbeaten in the Tri- County South with a win at Bentworth ( 12,1- 2).
Jefferson- Morgan 22, Monessen 14: The Rockets ( 1- 2, 1- 2) picked up a victory at the expense of the visiting Greyhounds ( 0- 3, 0- 3) in the Tri- County South.
