Auburn loss is historic

Kevin Harris had two touchdown runs and host South Carolina turned three intercepti­ons into points Saturday to beat Auburn for the first time in 87 years, 30-22.

The No. 15-ranked Tigers (2-2, 2-2 SEC) had won eight in a row in the series and jumped to a 9-0 lead in the opening 10 minutes. But Bo Nix threw three intercepti­ons and the Gamecocks (2-2, 2-2) cashed in each time to win consecutiv­e games for the first time in more than a year.

Shi Smith had eight catches, including a 10-yard TD grab in the third quarter that put South Carolina ahead for good, 20-19.

Clemson 73, Georgia Tech 7: Trevor Lawrence brushed off his first intercepti­on of the season to pass for a career-high 404 yards and five TDs in No. 1 Clemson’s romp over host Georgia Tech. The Tigers led, 52-7, at halftime; Lawrence played one series in the second half. Clemson (5-0, 4-0 ACC) outgained Georgia Tech (2-3, 2-2), 671 yards to 204.

Notre Dame 12, Louisville 7: Kyren Williams ran for 127 yards, Ian Book had a 13-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter and No. 4 Notre Dame (4-0, 3-0 ACC) held off visiting Louisville (1-4, 0-4). The Irish won their 22nd in a row at Notre Dame Stadium.

Texas A&M 28, Mississipp­i State 14: Isaiah Spiller ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns and Kellen Mond threw for two scores to help the No. 11 Aggies (3-1, 3-1 SEC) beat host Mississipp­i State (1-3, 1-3).

BYU 43, Houston 26: Zach Wilson threw four touchdowns and finished 25 of 35 for 400 yards to rally the No. 14 Cougars (5-0) past host Houston (1-1) late Friday night.

SMU 37, Tulane 34: Brandon Crossley ended the first overtime possession with an intercepti­on and Chris Naggar made a 34-yard field goal to give No. 17 SMU (5-0, 3-0 AAC) a win over host Tulane (2-3, 0-3) Friday night.

Kentucky 34, Tennessee 7: Kelvin Joseph and Jami Davis returned intercepti­ons for touchdowns in the first half and visiting Kentucky (22, 2-2 SEC) shut out No. 18 Tennessee (2-2, 2-2) in the second half. It was Kentucky’s first victory in Neyland Stadium since 1984.
