A 15- year- old boy has been charged as an adult with shooting a man who was trying to thwart a car theft in Ambridge last week.

Police said Michael Tucker, 15, of Aliquippa, is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a minor in c o n n e c t i o n w i t h t h e shooting of Trewon Marshall on Oct. 11.

According to a criminal complaint, Mr. Marshall was at the New Hope Community Church on Beaver Road with friends when he stepped outside for a few minutes and saw four people trying to break into a vehicle. A witness told police that Mr. Marshall confronted the group; one of them showed a gun before all four fled.

Mr. Marshall and several others from the church chased after two of the suspects, who were identified as Tucker and a female, eventually stopping on Upper Alley.

Tucker fired once at Mr. Marshall’s friend, missing him, and the friend took out his pistol and fired back, wounding Tucker in the arm. Tucker ran off, but Mr. Marshall followed, police said, and minutes later, Tucker shot him in the head and neck.

An Ambridge police officer arrived on the scene and fired toward Tucker, who dropped his gun and was taken into custody.

Mr. Marshall was taken to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of his wounds; Tucker was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Police said they recovered a stolen gun along Upper Alley and found several shell casings. Investigators with the Pennsylvania State Police also obtained video surveillance from the area as evidence, according to the complaint.

Tucker is being held in the Beaver County Prison on $ 200,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29, according to court records.
