Duquesne women hold on for win at La Salle

Nine players chipped in at least seven points each to help Duquesne secure a 7470 Atlantic 10 Conference road victory against La Salle (10-13, 6-10) at Tom Gola Arena. The Lady Dukes (5-9, 4-6) now have won three out of their past four games heading into Sunday’s regular-season finale at Saint Joseph’s.

Laia Sole was the lone Duquesne player to reach double figures for the Dukes with a team-high 11 points. Precious Johnson pulled down a game-high eight rebounds to go with seven points while Libby Bazelak led all players with seven assists in addition to seven points.

Ny Langley recorded nine points and six rebounds for Duquesne. Diamond Bragg and Amaya Hamilton each scored eight points, while Megan McConnell, Tess Myers and Kiersten Elliott each chipped in seven points apiece for the Dukes, who notched their seventh consecutiv­e triumph at Tom Gola Arena.

The Dukes built a 23-9 lead after the first quarter thanks to a 14-2 run keyed by two 3pointers by Elliott. Duquesne pushed its advantage to 14 in the second frame at 31-17 when Myers buried a 3-pointer after a La Salle turnover.

Men

Purdue 73, Penn State 52: Sasha

Stefanovic scored 16 points, Jaden Ivey added 14 points, and visiting Purdue cruised to a victory against host Penn State. Freshman Ivey had a season-high four blocks for the Boilermake­rs (16-8, 11-6), who won their ninth of their past 12 and tied No. 9 Iowa for fourth place in the Big Ten Conference standings. Myreon Jones had 11 points and Jamari Wheeler had 9 points, 6 rebounds and six 6assists for the Lions (8-13, 5-12).
