Remains found near VA hospital in Oakland

Police are investigating after remains were found in Oakland on Thursday morning.

Police say that they responded to the 3100 block of Brackenridge Street near the Oakland VA hospital due to reports of possible remains that were found just before 10 a.m.

When police detectives arrived on the scene, they discovered fragments of bones in the street.

Public Safety officials said that the Medical Examiner’s Office will examine the fragments in order to determine their origin.

No further information was immediately available.
