Georgia topples Kentucky to advance to SEC semifinals
Jenna Staiti and Maya Caldwell scored 20 points each and 16th-ranked Georgia beat No. 17 Kentucky (17-8), 78-66, in the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference tournament on Friday.
Fourth-seeded Georgia (19-5), which has won six of its past seven games, faces No. 2-ranked and top seed Texas A&M in a semifinal on Saturday.
Syracuse
Kamilla Cardoso scored on a put -back at the horn to help Syracuse (14-7) beat Florida State (10-8) 68-67 in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament. The Orange will take on No.-5 ranked and top-seeded Louisville in a semifinal on Saturday.
Louisville
Freshman Hailey Van Lith scored a season-high 24 points and helped fifthranked Louisville (22-2) pull away in the fourth quarter to beat Wake Forest (12-12), 65-53, in another quarterfinal game in the ACC Tournament.
Texas A&M
Kayla Wells had 16 points while Alexis Morris added 13 off the bench as Texas A&M (23-1) pulled away to defeat LSU (913), 77-58, and move to the semifinal matchup with Georgia.
VCU
Nah’Shon Hyland had 30 points and 10 rebounds as VCU (18-6) narrowly beat Dayton (14-9) 73-68 in the Atlantic 10 Conference tournament quarterfinals.
Davidson
Kellan Grady had a season-high 32 points as Davidson (13-7) romped past George Mason (13-9), 99-67, in another A10 quarterfinal.
Loyola
Freshman Jacob Hutson had 13 points and Lucas Williamson and Braden Norris each added 11 and No. 20 Loyola (22-4) earned a 73-49 win over Southern Illinois (12-14) in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament.
