Mia caused Connellsvi­lle’s offense to be MIA on Wednesday.

Mia Smith pitched a 4-hitter with 15 strikeouts to lead WPIAL Class 5A No. 2 PennTraffo­rd to a 9-1 home win against No. 1 Connellsvi­lle in Section 2.

Emma Little had a big day for Penn-Trafford, going 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs. The Warriors (4-3, 3-0) have scored 34 runs during their three-game win streak. Connellsvi­lle fell to 4-2 overall, 1-1 in section.

• Sydni Junker had a 3-run home run among her four RBIs to lead Class 6A No. 5 North Allegheny (4-5, 2-1) to a 15-3 five-inning win at No. 4 Hempfield (4-3, 1-2) in Section 2.

• Emilee Hohenshel fired a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and knocked in four runs to help Class 4A No. 1 Beaver (4-0, 3-0) defeat Hopewell (25, 0-4), 17-0, in five innings in Section 3.

•Abigale Measel (3-hitter, nine strikeouts) outdueled Mia Edwards (four-hitter, 15 strikeouts) as Neshannock (30, 3-0) notched a 1-0 upset at Class 2A No. 1 Shenango (6-2, 2-1) in Section 4.

Baseball

• Winning pitcher Eric Chalus struck out 12 and Cody Geddes hit a go-ahead 2-run homer in the sixth to lift Class 5A No. 3 Bethel Park (5-1, 3-0) to a 3-2 home win against Albert Gallatin (1-3, 12) in Section 4.

• Carter Deneigh denied Pine-Richland (3-4, 1-3) any runs, tossing a 2-hitter with 10 strikeouts to help host Class 6A No. 3 Seneca Valley (5-2, 3-1) earn a 5-0 win in Section 1.

• Michael DiMartini had three hits and three RBIs in helping host South Fayette (71, 3-1) beat Class 5A No. 2 West Allegheny (4-2, 3-1), 84, in Section 3.

Star of the night

• Robert Dickerson hit two home runs for the second time in three games to propel North Hills (3-4, 1-3) to a 7-4 home win against Chartiers Valley (3-5, 1-3) in Class 5A Section 3.
