Baldwin alum at Slippery Rock among the top hitters in Division II
One of the top baseball hitters in the country in NCAA Division II is a former WPIAL player. Jon Kozarian, a junior infielder from Baldwin High School, plays at Slippery Rock University and was No. 5 in batting in the NCAA as of April 8 with an average of .565 (35 of 62). He also was fifth in the country in slugging percentage at 1.048. He had started all 19 games and had 13 doubles, 1 triple, 5 home runs and 25 RBIs. He helped Slippery Rock to a 14-5 record.
Second-leading hitter at Ohio is a freshman from Albert Gallatin
Annalia Paoli has made quite an impact in her freshman season with the Ohio University softball team. Paoli, a freshman from Albert Gallatin High School, is among the top 20 hitters in the Mid-American Conference. Paoli had played in all 25 Ohio games and entered this week as the Bobcats’ second-leading hitter with a .378 average and an on-base percentage of .416. She had eight extra-base hits and was second on the team in RBIs with 18. Ohio was 12-13.
Team leader in wins at Michigan is sophomore from Canon-McMillan
The University of Michigan baseball team is in second place in the Big Ten Conference and the team leader in pitching wins is Cam Weston of Canon-McMillan High School. Weston, a sophomore, is 4-1 after defeating Ohio State last Saturday. Weston pitched 6⅔ shutout innings and gave up five hits while striking out five. For the season, Weston has pitched 36 innings and has a 3.25 ERA. Opponents are hitting only .244 against him.
