Jaguars lose Etienne

-

Travis Etienne, Jacksonville’s second first-round pick, lost for season.

Travis Etienne was supposed to be a game-changer for the Jacksonville Jaguars this season.

He might not have had the same impact as rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence, but the ACC’s all-time leading rusher looked like he would be a prominent figure in coach Urban Meyer’s offense.

But Meyer and the Jaguars will have to wait a year. The team placed the running back on injured reserve Tuesday, one day after he suffered a Lisfranc injury to his left foot Monday night against New Orleans.

Seahawks

Seattle brought back a familiar face and made a trade for a position in need of some depth. The Seahawks signed veteran tight end Luke Willson and acquired cornerback John Reid from Houston for a conditional late-round draft pick. Willson is a fan favorite after being drafted by Seattle in 2013.

Browns

Takk McKinley returned after a three-week absence, and the team is optimistic the defensive end has taken care of the personal issues that forced him away last month. … Receiver Davion Davis was suspended two games for violating the league’s policy on substance abuse.

Panthers

Carolina agreed to a threeyear, $37.5 million contract extension with wide receiver Robby Anderson that includes $20.5 million in guaranteed money.

Elsewhere

Three-time All-Pro receiver Cliff Branch (senior candidate) and Super Bowlwinning coach Dick Vermeil (coaches category) are Hall of Fame class of 2022 finalists.
