Pittsburgh man charged with traveling to hotel for sex with 10-year-old girl

A Pittsburgh man tried to arrange for sex with a 10year-old girl at a Homestead hotel, but the girl turned out to be an undercover law officer with an FBI task force, according to a federal indictment.

Wayne Edward McNutt, 56, was charged Wednesday with attempted coercion and two related counts of child porn possession and distribution.

The case against him began in February when he contacted an FBI task force member in Albany, N.Y., who was posing on social media as the parent of the girl. Someone contacted the officer using the name “adadslove,” who turned out to be McNutt, authorities said.

He expressed sexual interest in the girl and said he was a “perv” for young girls, according to an FBI affidavit. The agent posing as the mother of the child said they lived in New York.

McNutt said he wanted to engage in bondage with the girl and, over several graphic conversations, asked if the mother could bring the child to Pittsburgh for sex and he would pay the expenses.

McNutt also said he would go to a hospital to get tested for venereal diseases. Eventually, the FBI said, arrangements were made for the supposed mother and daughter to travel to Pittsburgh and McNutt booked a room for their July 26 arrival at the Holiday Inn Express at the Waterfront.

McNutt also sent $400 to the agent to cover the travel expenses. He took a bus to the hotel on the day of the meeting and agents arrested him.

He admitted in a recorded interview that he had been communicating with the undercover agents since February, according to the affidavit, through social media and texting.

Agents said when they took him into custody, he had condoms and lubricant with him and admitted that he planned to use them on the child.

McNutt faces at least 15 years in federal prison if convicted. He will be arraigned in federal court on Sept. 2.
