Eagles shut out Jeannette

Luke Jordan scored 15 seconds into the game on a crossing pass from Collin Holmes to score the only goal Serra Catholic (4-4-2, 4-3-1) needed to upset Jeannette (7-2, 4-2), 4-0, in Class 1A Section 1.

Holmes, Jaxson Pozviak, and Noah Coppola also scored for the Eagles. Aaron Spisak assisted on two goals, while Jordan and Holmes each had one assist. Ethan Coddington recorded 12 saves to post the shutout for Serra.

More boys soccer

• In the only match Tuesday involving two ranked teams, Class 4A top-ranked Seneca Valley (11-0-1, 8-0-1) tied No. 5 Fox Chapel (9-3-1, 6-3-1), 2-2, in a Section 1 showdown at Seneca Velley.

• Drew McKim scored two goals to lead Shady Side Academy (7-0, 7-0), ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, to a 5-0 win over Burrell (5-6, 4-4) in Section 2. Joe Anania, Jackson Suski and Eli Naughton also scored for Shady Side.

• Will Sinay scored the winning goal with five minutes left to lead Elizabeth Forward (8-2, 7-2) to a 2-1 win over East Allegheny (7-4, 6-4) in Class 2A Section 1.

• Freshman Ayden Rutan scored with 31 seconds left in regulation to break a scoreless tie and lead McGuffey (7-2-1, 62-1) to a 1-0 win over visiting Mount Pleasant (4-4-1, 4-3-1). The Highlander­s took over sole possession of second place in Class 2A Section 3.

• Milo Larson, Ben Beal and Ezra Dubozitz scored goals as Allderdice (11-2, 7-2) defeated Penn-Trafford (7-4, 6-4) in Class 4A Section 2. Penn-Trafford scored its only goal with five minutes remaining.

Girls volleyball

• In a battle of the top two teams in Class 1A, top-ranked Bishop Canevin (12-1, 8-0) qualified for the WPIAL playoffs for the 17th consecutiv­e year with a 25-14, 25-14, 25-22 sweep of No. 2 Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (8-2, 10-2) in Section 3. The Crusaders have won 64 consecutiv­e section matches.

• Annie Bozzo recorded 32 assists to increase her career total to 2,029 to lead Class 4A top-ranked Shaler (11-0, 7-0) to a 25-23, 25-23, 25-21 sweep of No. 3 Pine-Richland (6-4, 5-3) in Section 1. Bozzo also recorded 9 digs, 3 aces and 3 blocks.

• Avonworth ( 8- 1, 7- 1), ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, recorded a 25-14, 25-19, 2518 sweep of No. 4 Seton LaSalle (7-4, 5-3) in Section 2.

Girls soccer

• Morgan Einodshofe­r scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead Belle Vernon (11-3, 8-2) to a 6-2 win over Greensburg Salem (5-6, 54) in Class 3A Section 2.
