Hampton remains unbeaten

Luke Staggers scored in the first half and Zach Panza scored on a penalty kick in the second half as Hampton remained unbeaten with a 2-0 win over visiting Kiski Area in Class 3A Section 1 boys soccer. The Talbots (11-0, 11-0) are ranked No. 2, while the Cavaliers (11-3, 10-2) are ranked No. 4.

Thomas Bradfield registered the shutout for the Talbots.

• Carlo Denis scored twice in the second half to break a 11 tie and lead Class 1A No. 2 Greensburg Central Catholic (10-1, 9-0) to a 7-2 road victory over Jeannette (7-2, 4-2) in Section 2. The win clinches the section title for the Centurions.

• Jerzy Timlin and Julian Hays each scored a goal to lead Class 1A No. 4 Bentworth (12-1-1, 8-0-1) to a 2-0 win over Seton LaSalle (8-2-1, 6-2-1) and clinch a tied for the Section 4 title. Landon Urcho registered eight saves.

• Collin Holmes scored on a switch play from Gavin Deverse to give Serra (5-4-2, 5-3-1) the goal it needed in a 1-0 win over visiting Trinity Christian (4-6-1, 4-3-1) in Class 1A Section 2.

• Jimmie Couch broke a 1-1 tie with a goal in the second half to give Freedom (7-5, 6-5) a 2-1 win over visiting North Catholic (6-5, 6-3) in Class 2A Section 4.

• Gino Penascino and Ethan Bowser scored goals as Class 2A Section 1 Elizabeth Forward (9-2, 8-2) posted a 2-0 home victory over Avonworth (6-7, 5-6) in Section 1.

Football

Ahmad Arrington and Zyan Howard each scored two touchdowns to lead Perry (2-4, 1-3) to a 38-0 win over Carrick (0-6, 0-1) in a City League game played at Cupples Stadium. Arrington scored on runs of 16 and 4 yards. Howard, who rushed for 87 yards on eight carries, scored on runs of 10 and 1 yards.

Girls volleyball

• Molly Simmons had 15 kills to lead Class 4A No. 3 Moon (9-0, 9-0) to a 25-16, 3028, 25-17 sweep of Upper St. Clair (5-5, 5-4) in Section 1.

• Krista Wilson recorded 14 kills and six aces, while Ella Menear had 13 kills and 10 digs, as Class 1A No. 3 Mapletown (11-1, 9-0) posted a 25-10, 2510, 25-12 sweep of California (7-3, 7-2) in Section 2.

Girls soccer

• Addy Green netted two goals in Gateway’s 3-0 non-section win over Mount Pleasant.
