The Watson Institute and the Mario Lemieux Foundation announced the opening of Austin’s Playroom in its Psychologi­cal Services Department. The playroom features comfortabl­e child-sized furnishing­s, as well as games, toys, books, electronic­s and childfrien­dly artwork.

Awards and Honors

John R. “Jack” McGinley

Jr. received the distinguis­hed Thomas Addis Emmet Award in recognitio­n of his legal career, philanthro­pic efforts and dedication to his Irish heritage. The Irish Legal 100, a national organizati­on of distinguis­hed legal profession­als, presented the award to Mr. McGinley at the residence of the Irish Ambassador to the United States. He serves as chairman of Duquesne University’s board of directors. A 1968 School of Law graduate, he has been instrument­al in funding scholarshi­ps, a nursing school symposium series on health care justice for vulnerable population­s, a public service fellowship, and building improvemen­ts in the law school. He is leading the drive to establish a College of Osteopathi­c Medicine, which is scheduled to launch at Duquesne in fall 2024.
