Oklahoma wins Big 12 thriller

Madi Williams had 23 points and nine rebounds, and No. 18-ranked Oklahoma defeated No. 9 Texas, 65-63, Saturday in Norman, Okla.

Taylor Robertson had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Sooners (18-3, 7-2), who remained tied with Iowa State for the Big 12 Conference lead.

Rori Harmon had 15 points and 11 rebounds and Aliyah Matharu added 10 points for Texas (17-4, 5-3), which saw its four-game win streak snapped.

With the score tied at 6363, Oklahoma’s Liz Scott was fouled on a running bank shot with 4.1 seconds left in the fourth quarter. She missed the free throw, and Texas called timeout with 3.6 seconds to play. Harmon then missed what would have been a gamewinnin­g 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Iowa State 88, Texas Tech 65: Emily Ryan scored 20 points with seven assists, Lexi Donarski added 19 points and No. 13 Iowa State cruised to a win over host Texas Tech. Ashley Joens had 16 points for the Cyclones (18-3, 7-2 Big 12 Conference) and Beatriz Jordao and Nyamer Diew combined for 21 off the bench with Jordao grabbing eight rebounds. Taylah Thomas scored 22 points for the Red Raiders (9-11, 2-7), who have lost four in a row.

BYU 99, San Francisco 58: Paisley Harding scored 30 points on 11-for-17 shooting and Shaylee Gonzales scored 18 points and No. 16 BYU (18 -1, 8-0 West Coast Conference) beat visiting San Francisco (10-11, 4-5). Harding recorded five 3-pointers made for the 29th time in her career in the Cougars’ 10th consecutiv­e win. Gonzales, a sophomore recorded her 500th field goal and Lauren Gustin scored 11 and grabbed 14 rebounds; her 15th double-digit rebounding effort this season.

Kansas State 63, TCU 54: Ayoka Lee scored 25 points and No. 25 Kansas State (165, 6-3 Big 12) pulled away in the final five minutes to beat visiting TCU (6-11, 2-6). TCU trailed by as many as 12 points in the third quarter but cut the deficit to 51-49 with 5:02 remaining. Serena Sundell and Jaelyn Glenn hit consecutiv­es 3s to spark a 122 run for the Wildcats.
