No. 7 Texas beats Iowa St.

Will meet Baylor for Big 12 crown

Rori Harmon scored 12 of her 30 points in overtime and No. 7 Texas outlasted No. 10 Iowa State (26-6), 82-73, Saturday in the Big 12 Conference women’s semifinals in Kansas City, Mo.

The Longhorns (25-6) will face No. 4 Baylor Sunday in the championsh­ip.

“I’ve been doing it a long time,” Texas coach Vic Schaefer said. “A lot of gut wrenchers. This one today is right up there. This team showed tremendous grit.”

Texas’ Lauren Ebo had an attempt in the lane with less than two seconds left that rolled off the rim and sent it to overtime. Texas used its size and strength inside to control the overtime, outscoring Iowa State 19-10 in the extra period.

Big 12: Na Lyssa Smith scored a career-high 37 points to help No. 4 Baylor (27-5) rout No. 21 Oklahoma (24-8), 91-76, in the other Big 12 semifinal in Kansas City, Mo.

American East: Morgan Haney came off the bench to score 20 points and lead the Albany Great Danes (23-9) to the title with a 56-47 victory against host Maine (20-11).

Atlantic Sun: Kierstan Bell scored 26 points and Tishara Morehouse added 17 as No. 23 Florida Gulf Coast (29-2) defeated Jacksonvil­le State (24-7), 69-54, in the title game in Fort Myers, Fla.

Big Sky: Darian White scored 17 points to lead Montana State (22-12) to the title with a 75-64 win against Northern Arizona (17-14) in Boise, Idaho.

Conference USA: The Charlotte 49ers (22-9) won the title game with the help of 33 points by Octavia Jett-Wilson in the 68-63 win against Louisiana Tech (21-11) in Frisco, Texas.

Ivy League: Kaitlyn Chen scored a career-high 30 points and No. 24 Princeton (24-4) beat Columbia (22-6), 77-59, to win the Ivy League tournament, earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Mid-American: Dyaisha Fair scored 30 points and Georgia Woolley added 29 as Buffalo (25-8) outlasted Ball State (20-12) in the title game with a 79-75 win in Cleveland, Ohio.

MEAC: Destiny Howell scored a career-high 25 points and Howard (20-9) captured its first conference tournament championsh­ip and first NCAA tournament berth in 21 years, beating Norfolk State (17-11) on its home court, 61-44.

SWAC: Miya Crump scored 22 points to lead six Jackson State (23-6) players in double figures and the top-seeded Lady Tigers rolled to the tournament title with a 101-80 win against third-seeded Alabama State (15-15).

Western Athletic: Zya Nugent scored 20 points with 12 rebounds plus 6 assists and top-seeded Stephen F. Austin (28-4) beat secondseed­ed Grand Canyon (22-9), 74-57, to win the conference tournament in Las Vegas in its first year as a league member.
