Highlights from major construction projects around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas this week
1. Saxonburg Road/Fawn, Harrison: Closed indefinitely between Route 908 and Freeport Road.
2. East Carson Street/ Pittsburgh:
Single-lane restrictions at various locations between the Smithfield Street Bridge and 33rd Street, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May.
3. Noblestown Road/Oakdale, Pittsburgh: Closed between Hill and Gregg Station roads until further notice.
4. Way Hollow Road/ Edgeworth, Sewickley Heights: Closed indefinitely between Woodland and Backbone roads.
5. Route 136/Elizabeth: Long-term closure between Route 51 in Forward and Long Hollow Road.
6. Fifth and Forbes corridor/Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority working on the Forbes and Fifth Water Main Replacement Project. Work to continue until spring. Traffic disruptions throughout the area.
7. Fallowfield Avenue/ Pittsburgh: Closed through April from Hampshire Avenue to Broadway Avenue in Beechview for slope work.
8. Jones Avenue/Wilkins and Turtle Creek: Work to replace Thompson Run East Branch Bridge No. 2 has resumed. Northbound lane of Larimer Avenue to reopen in August, and the new bridge will open in October.
9. West Liberty Avenue/ Dormont: Traffic shifts, lane restrictions between Biltmore and Tennessee avenues, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through early April, for gas line replacement.
10. Route 50/Bridgeville and South Fayette:
Lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights in each direction between James Street in Bridgeville and Millers Run Road in South Fayette through late 2022. Crews will widen the bridge over Chartiers Creek to seven lanes. Additionally, a lane from southbound Washington Pike to northbound I-79 will be constructed, widening work will occur on the northbound I-79 on-ramp, and Chartiers Street will be widened to include a turning lane.
11. Mayview, Boyce roads/South Fayette:
Utility work requires closures on Boyce Road and Mayview Road through Tuesday. Detours posted.
12. Mount Royal Boulevard/Hampton: Single-lane restrictions between Craighead Road and Old Mount Royal Boulevard, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through late March for pipeline work. And aroundthe-clock closure between Duncan Avenue and Park View Lane through mid-March for drainage improvements.
13. Forbes Avenue/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely near Frick Park and South Braddock Avenue because of the collapse of the Fern Hollow Bridge.
14. Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed for complete rehabilitation. Work to continue until December 2023. Detours posted.
15. Route 28/Aspinwall: Single-lane and shoulder restrictions northbound between the on-ramp from the Highland Park Bridge to the Delafield Avenue exit weekdays from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. through March 21. Crews will conduct sign work.
16. Route 28/Sharpsburg: Long-term closure of the ramp from northbound and southbound Route 28 to Freeport Road at the Highland Park Bridge interchange. Work to continue through late May. Motorists can still use the northbound and southbound Route 28 ramps to the Highland Park Bridge. Ramp traffic to Freeport Road will be detoured.
17. Main Street/Sharpsburg:
Closed between Sixth and Eighth streets until March 30 for sewer work. Detour posted.
18. Route 130/Pitcairn, Monroeville and Trafford: Single-lane alternating restrictions between Second Street and Haymaker Road, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through April 30 for curb ramp construction.
19. Gill Hall Road/Pleasant Hills:
Traffic restrictions between Mowry Drive and Old
Clairton Road for support wall construction, slope erosion protection and other roadway repairs. Work to end in July.
20. Lincoln Way/White Oak: Closed until further notice between Stewartsville Hollow Road and Coulterville Road due to a landslide. Detour posted.
21. Business Loop 376/ Moon:
Single-lane restrictions in both directions nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through early October. Work will be done between the eastbound Halverson Drive on-ramp and the I-376 Moon (Exit 57) interchange. Crews will conduct drainage improvements.
22. Irvine Street, Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Lane restrictions and traffic shifts around the clock through late May at the intersection of Route 885 with Hazelwood Avenue. Work includes roadway widening, sidewalk and ramp installation, drainage improvements and signal upgrades.
23. Saw Mill Run Boulevard/Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions in both directions on Route 51 between Lewis Street and Woodruff Street, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Wednesday. Duquesne Light is replacing utility poles.
24. McLaughlin Run Road/Upper St. Clair: Singlelane restriction southbound beginning Wednesdsay at the intersection of Lesnett Road for next phase of roundabout construction. Traffic will be maintained in each direction until late April.
25. Butler Street/Pittsburgh: Closed to traffic in both directions due to a water line break between Sawyer Street and the 62nd Street Bridge. Detour posted.
