No MLB travel to Canada for unvaccinated players
MajorLeague Baseball players who are not vaccinated against the corona virus won’tbe allowed to travel into Canadato face the Blue Jays inToronto and won’t be paid forthose games.
Canada’ s government requires a person must have received a second vaccine dose —or one dose of Johnson & Johnson— at least 14 days priorto entry.
“Theparties have agreed thatany player who, as a resultof such a governmental regulationis unable or ineligibleto play in a championship seasongame (or games) due to hisvaccination status will be ineligiblefor placement on the COVID-19IL, but rather may beplaced on the restricted list ...without pay or the accrual of credited major league service, during such period of unavailability ,” according to a letterfrom union deputy generalcounsel Matt Nussbaum toMLB senior vice president PatrickHoulihan.
Theagreement was first reportedby Boston television stationWCVB.
Torontoopens April 8 at homeagainst Texas.
