Bruins edge Tampa in OT

Charlie Coyle scored 3:37 into overtime to give the visiting Boston Bruins a 2-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning Friday night.

Coyle picked up a loose puck to the right of Tampa Bay goalie Andrei Vasilevski­y, came out in front and scored on a quick wrist shot.

Jake DeBrusk scored the other goal for Boston, which got 28 saves from Linus Ullmark.

The Bruins improved to 83 in their past 11 games.

Pierre-Édouard Bellemare had the only goal for Tampa Bay, which is 0-2-2 in its past four games and fell one point behind Boston in the race for third place in the Atlantic Division.

Vasilevski­y finished with 36 saves.

The only two goals in regulation came early in the second period ,when DeBrusk and Bellemare scored less than three minutes apart.

Other games

Panthers 4, Sabres 3: Sam Bennett scored with 37.3 seconds left to lift host Florida past Buffalo. Sam Reinhart and Claude Giroux each had a goal and an assist, and Patric Hornqvist also scored for the Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky made 19 saves.

Islanders 2, Hurricanes 1: Kyle Palmieri scored with 14.1 seconds remaining in a wild final minute to lift visiting New York past Carolina. Ilya Sorokin needed only 19 saves to pick up the victory, though he was less than a minute away from matching a franchise record for shutouts in a season. The Islanders won for the fifth time in their past six games.

Avalanche 5, Jets 4: Cale Makar scored on a power play at 2:42 of overtime to lead visiting Colorado past pesky Winnipeg. Both Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice for the Jets.

Blues 4, Wild 3: Justin Faulk and Brayden Schenn scored for St. Louis in the third period and Robert Thomas scored 1:27 into overtime to defeat visiting Minnesota.
