Lake Erie and tributarie­s

(Erie County): Steelhead anglers reported tight lines with fish stacked in chutes and under the falls on lower Walnut Creek. On clear-water days, sight fishing paid off on Elk Creek at Folly’s End and Stuchen Flats, where good numbers of steelhead patrolled the pools. Brown trout stockings continued in four Lake Erie tributarie­s — Cascade, Crooked, Elk and Twentymile creeks.

Pymatuning Reservoir (Crawford County): Good numbers of crappies and perch were caught in the warmer bays north of Clark Island. Walleye went for jigs near the causeway and spillway, but they have to be immediatel­y returned until the season reopens May 7.

Conneaut Lake (Crawford County): Crappies moved into the warmest shallows north of Conneaut Lake Boat Ramp.

Raccoon Lake (Beaver County): In areas free of cloudy water, trout went for all baits. Rainbows were to be stocked Saturday.

Bradys Run Lake (Beaver County): Redworms, wax worms, paste baits and silver or gold spinners attracted rainbows and golden rainbows. A replacemen­t stocking was scheduled for April 16.

South Branch Bradys Run (Beaver County): In greentinte­d waters below the lake, anglers found brown and rainbow trout near the bottom of deep pools and undercuts. The fish went for live and salted minnows, redworms, wax worms and paste baits.

Traverse Creek (Beaver County): Another batch of brown,, rainbow and golden rainbow trout was scheduled for stocking above Raccoon Lake Saturday. Browns and rainbows were to be delivered to waters from the lake to the confluence with Raccoon Creek.

North Park Lake (Allegheny County): On Mentored Youth Trout Day, each of the 12-yearold Wollenschl­aeger twins, Brooke and Mia, experience­d dunking bobbers and bent fishing rods. Broke landed seven trout and Mia caught four. All of the fish were released. Rainbow trout were scheduled for stocking Thursday.

Deer Lakes (Allegheny County): The three lakes were scheduled for deliveries of trout Saturday.

Peter’s Creek (Allegheny County): Anglers including many families turned out for the creek’s second statestock­ed opening day. Corry Blair, 7, of Jefferson Hills caught his first trout, a 14-inch rainbow, under the iron bridge. More browns, rainbows and golden rainbows were stocked Tuesday.

Pine Creek (Allegheny County): Anglers reported high catch rates across all beats. All stocked trout waters were scheduled for a replacemen­t stocking Friday.

Montour Run (Allegheny County): Prior to Wednesday’s rain, low, clear waters were most productive near dusk and dawn using small spinners and flies. Browns, rainbows and golden rainbows were delivered Monday.

Turtle Creek (Allegheny, Westmorela­nd counties): A second stocking of brown, rainbow and golden rainbow trout was scheduled for Monday.

Donegal Lake (Westmorela­nd County): Rainbow trout were expected to be delivered Saturday.

Twin Lakes (Westmorela­nd County): Heavy opening-day pressure didn’t deter the trout from biting. Anglers who did the best kept their baits deep. Fish and Boat delivered rainbow trout Wednesday.

Keystone, Northmorel­and lakes (Westmorela­nd County): Rainbow trout were stocked Wednesday.

Mammoth Lake (Westmorela­nd County): Rainbows were to be stocked Friday.

Indian Lake (Westmorela­nd County): Another delivery of rainbow trout was expected Monday.

Loyalhanna Creek (Westmorela­nd County): The Delayed Harvest Artificial Lures Only area, which receives lunker-size former hatchery breeders, was expected to to be stocked with browns, rainbows and golden rainbows Tuesday. The beats above and below were to be stocked next week.

Laurel Hill Creek (Somerset County): Trout were stocked Tuesday and Thursday.

Youghioghe­ny River (Somerset, Fayette counties): In addition to private stockings by sporting groups, Fish and Boat stocked browns, rainbows and golden rainbows from the dam to the Casselman River confluence Tuesday.
