Highlights from major construction projects around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas this week
1. Boyce and Mayview roads/ South Fayette: Closures because of intersection improvements. Work includes the installation of left turning lanes in each direction from Boyce Road to Mayview Road, the addition of a right turning lane from Mayview Road to Boyce Road, a bridge replacement, roadway widening, signal upgrades, and lighting improvements. The western leg of Boyce Road and the southern leg of Mayview Road will close to through traffic continuously through late August. Detours posted. 2. East Carson Street/Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions at various locations between the Smithfield Street Bridge and 33rd Street, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. through May.
3. Noblestown Road/Oakdale, Pittsburgh: Closed between Hill and Gregg Station roads until further notice.
4, Route 30 (Ardmore Boulevard)/Forest Hills: Eastbound crossover between Lafeyette Road and Fairfax Road through mid-July as crews perform culvert reconstruction and relocate utility lines. Traffic reconfigured and restricted. Detours posted. Shortly after this crossover completion, an approximate 100-day crossover will occur carrying westbound Route 30 traffic using an eastbound lane.
5. Seabright Road/North Fayette: Pipe-replacement work will require the closure of the road between North Branch Road and Old Steubenville Pike at 9 a.m. Monday. Through traffic prohibited around-the-clock through April 22. Traffic detoured via North Branch Road, Route 980, and Old Steubenville Pike. 6. Whittengale Road/North Fayette: Slide repair work will close Whittengale between Sitarik Road and Noblestown Road, beginning at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Through traffic prohibited through April 29. Traffic will be detoured via Sitarik Road, North Road and Noblestown Road.
7. Fallowfield Avenue/Pittsburgh: Closed through April from Hampshire Avenue to Broadway Avenue in Beechview for slope work.
8. Jones Avenue/Wilkins and Turtle Creek: Work to replace Thompson Run East Branch Bridge No. 2 has resumed. Northbound lane of Larimer Avenue to reopen in August, and the new bridge will open in October.
9. Route 50/Bridgeville and South Fayette: Lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights in each direction between James Street in Bridgeville and Millers Run Road in South Fayette through late 2022. Crews will widen the bridge over Chartiers Creek to seven lanes. Additionally, a lane from southbound Washington Pike to northbound I79 will be constructed, widening work will occur on the northbound I-79 on-ramp, and Chartiers Street will be widened to include a turning lane.
10. Forbes Avenue/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely near Frick Park and South Braddock Avenue because of the collapse of the Fern Hollow Bridge.
11. Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed for complete rehabilitation. Work to continue until December 2023. Detours posted.
12. Route 28/Aspinwall, Sharpsburg: Long-term closure of the ramp from northbound and southbound Route 28 to Freeport Road at the Highland Park Bridge interchange. Work to continue through late May. Motorists can still use the northbound and southbound Route 28 ramps to the Highland Park Bridge. Ramp traffic to Freeport Road will be detoured. Also, long-term closure of the ramp from the Highland Park Bridge to northbound Route 28 in Aspinwall, around the clock until late June. Detour posted.
13. Route 28/O’Hara: Singlelane restrictions in both directions
at the bridge over Powers Run Road weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through the end of May for barrier wall repairs and other work. Additionally, single-lane restrictions will occur on Powers Run Road beneath Route 28 during the same time frame.
14. Sixth Street/Sharpsburg: Closed between Main Street and Clay Street continuously through late April for storm sewer and drainage improvements. Detours posted.
15. Route 130/Pitcairn, Monroeville and Trafford: Single-lane alternating restrictions between Second Street and Haymaker Road, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through April 30 for curb ramp construction.
16. Gill Hall Road/Pleasant Hills: Traffic restrictions between Mowry Drive and Old Clairton Road for support wall construction, slope erosion protection and other roadway repairs. Work to end in July.
17. Lincoln Way/White Oak: Closed until further notice between Stewartsville Hollow Road and Coulterville Road due to a landslide. Detour posted. 18. Business Loop 376/Moon: Single-lane restrictions in both directions nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through early October. Work will be done between the eastbound Halverson Drive on-ramp and the I-376 Moon (Exit
57) interchange. Crews will conduct drainage improvements. 19. Irvine Street, Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Lane restrictions and traffic shifts around the clock through late May at the intersection of Route 885 with Hazelwood Avenue. Work includes roadway widening, sidewalk and ramp installation, drainage improvements and signal upgrades.
20. McLaughlin Run Road/Upper St. Clair: Single-lane restriction southbound at the intersection of Lesnett Road for next phase of roundabout construction. Traffic will be maintained in each direction until late April.
Closed 21. North North for slide Branch Road/North repair Road work and Fayette: between Noblestown Road through late April.
22. Commonwealth Avenue/ West Mifflin: Single-lane alternating traffic between Shady Lane and Millers Avenue, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through late May for pipeline work.
23. Perry Highway/Ross, West View: Single-lane restrictions between Ivory Avenue and Center Avenue from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights through late August for paving.
24. Route 88/Bethel Park and Castle Shannon: Single-lane alternating traffic between South Park Road and Connor Road from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights, 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 a.m. Sunday through late August for paving.
25. Route 65, Neville Island Bridge/Glenfield: Long-term closure of the ramp from Kilbuck Street to northbound Route 65 at the Neville Island Bridge has begun. Crews will do painting and make structural steel repairs through mid-June. Detours posted.
26. Sixth Avenue and Wood Street/Pittsburgh: Intersection closed as a result of an ongoing project to replace bricks in the crosswalks, as well as other work within the intersection. Complete closure of the intersection will last until April 15.
27. Andover Terrace/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely in the Upper Hill District for stabilization of a retaining wall.
28. East Willock Road/Baldwin Borough: Single-lane alternating traffic between Short Street and Bluff Street, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late December for water line installation. Flaggers will assist motorists through the work zone.
29. Liberty Way/Lincoln: Singlealternating traffic between Sunset Lane and Deer Lane, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through early June for gas pipeline work. 30. Route 837/West
Homestead: Lane restrictions on Seventh and Eighth avenues between Neel Street and the Route 885 (Glenwood Bridge) interchange, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays through mid-November for pavement reconstruction and related work. Also, crossover on Seventh Avenue/Eighth Avenue begins at 7 a.m. Monday between Neel Street and Seventh Avenue, through late June. Traffic headed southbound on West Eighth Avenue will be crossed over utilizing a single westbound lane. Northbound traffic will be maintained using a single lane throughout the area. Parking prohibited in the crossover area. 31. Pittsburgh- McKeesport
Boulevard/West Mifflin: Singlelane alternating traffic between Buttermilk Hollow Road and Lebanon Church Road, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late May for water line installation.
32. Clairton Road/West Mifflin: Lane restrictions between Lewis Run Road and Saniels Lane, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through late April for gas line work.
33. Parkway East/Pittsburgh: Ramp restrictions at the I-376/ Boulevard of Allies interchange, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through late December for reconstruction.
34. Parkway North/Pittsburgh: Inspection activity on the I-279 bridge over McKnight Road will result in single-lane restrictions in both directions, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
35. West Liberty Avenue/of Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions in both directions between Pioneer Avenue and Cape May Avenue, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late May for roadway and sidewalk repairs.
36. Liberty Tunnel/Pittsburgh: Lane restrictions in both directions for electrical work, 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through late April.
37. Stanton Avenue/Reserve: Closed between Johnston Street and Karen Drive starting at 9 a.m. April 19 for replacement of Girty’s Run Bridge. Work will continue until sometime in July. Detour posted. Stanton Avenue residents will have access to their homes.
