FISHING REPORT
Lake Erie (Erie County): Walleye fishing off Erie County has never been better. Catch rates were high and dink totals low in about 60-70 feet of water with walleye suspended at about 40-45 feet. The hot baits were crawler harnesses and diving lures off dipseys, riggers or planer boards. Color varied with time and location. Charter captains reported happy clients from the Ohio border to the New York line. On Saturday, trolling due north from Presque Isle under a slight chop, Erie Walleye Charters and Small Program Charters limited out in two hours. Steelhead were caught farther out in 80-90 feet of water.
Conneaut Lake (Crawford County): Anglers reported catching largemouth bass and panfish.
Shenango Reservoir (Mercer County): White bass and hybrid white bass pushed shad to the surface, and crappies were caught in deep waters near shore on this Panfish Enhancement lake.
Lake Wilhelm (Mercer County): Largemouths and crappies were caught.
Lake Arthur (Butler County): Crappies were caught at 15-18 feet and largemouth bass were pulled from floating vegetation near McDanels Launch.
Raccoon Lake (Beaver County): Fat bluegills were caught at dropoffs.
Ohio River (Beaver County): Anglers on separate trips boated flathead catfish in the 30-inch range at night on cut bait.
North Park Lake (Allegheny County): Fishing pressure was high in great weather. Panfish and yellow perch took worms and paste baits under bobbers.
Monongahela River (Allegheny County): Despite lowwater hazards from McKeesport to Elizabeth, smallmouth fishing was particularly good and flathead were caught from dusk into the night from shore.
Donegal Lake (Westmoreland County): Anglers reported a hot bluegill bite and smallmouth bass in excess of 4 pounds.
Youghiogheny River (Fayette, Somerset counties): Waters were low and clear, but smallmouth bass and muskellunge were caught.
