Highlights from major construction projects around Pittsburgh and surrounding areas this week
1. Interstate 79/Bridgeville: Single-overnight lane restrictions will occur on I-79 between the Bridgeville (Exit 54) and I-376 (Exit 59 A-B) interchanges as crews conduct joint repair work through early November. Work will occur in both directions.
2. Siebert Road/Ross: Singlelane restrictions between Babcock Boulevard and Thompson Run Road, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily through mid-November for paving.
3. Thornburg Bridge (Route 60)/Robinson, Crafton, Pittsburgh: Restrictions between Woodmere Drive and Cornell Avenue for bridge preservation work through summer 2023. Detours posted.
4. Route 50/Bridgeville and South Fayette: Lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. weeknights between James Street in Bridgeville and Millers Run Road in South Fayette through late 2022. Crews are widening the bridge over Chartiers Creek.
5. Forbes Avenue/Pittsburgh: Closed indefinitely near Frick Park and South Braddock Avenue because of the collapse of the Fern Hollow Bridge.
6. Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge/Pittsburgh: Closed for rehabilitation until December 2023.
7. Route 28/Pittsburgh, Aspinwall, Sharpsburg and north: Ramp from northbound Highland Park Bridge to southbound Route 28 in Sharpsburg closed through mid-December for reconstruction. Detour posted. The work is part of the ongoing rebuilding of Route 28 in the Highland Park Bridge area.
8. Verona Road/Penn Hills: Closed at Second Avenue into October for intersection reconstruction. Detour posted.
9. Campbells Run Road/Robinson: Closed between Keiners Lane and Brookside Drive through November for replacement of Campbells Run South Branch Bridges Nos. 5 and 6.
10. Saw Mill Run Boulevard (Route 51)/Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions in both directions between Glenbury Street and Overbrook Boulevard, nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through early November for gas line work.
11. Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions, shoulder closures and intermittent traffic stoppages through late December.
12. Camp Meeting Road/Bell Acres, Leetsdale: Periodic singlelane closures between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. between Camp Meeting Road Extension and Beaver Street. Work to continue through November for milling and paving, drainage improvements, shoulder work, and guide rail replacement.
13. 10th Street Bypass/Pittsburgh: Single-lane closures in
each direction between Fort Duquesne Boulevard at the Pittsburgh Convention Center and I279 Parkway North/Fort Duquesne Bridge as needed through Nov. 4. Crews will perform demolition, painting, concrete repairs, and other miscellaneous work on the Roberto Clemente Bridge above the corridor.
14. East Willock Road/Baldwin Borough: Single-lane alternating traffic between Short and Bluff streets, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late December, for water line installation. 15. Route 837/West
Homestead: Lane restrictions on Seventh and Eighth avenues between Neel Street and the Route 885 (Glenwood Bridge) interchange, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays through mid-November for pavement and related work.
16. Saxonburg Boulevard/ Shaler: Closed between Middle Road and Fugger Lane through late October for slide repair work.
17. Boulevard of the Allies/ Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions in both directions between Forbes Avenue and Jumonville Street, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through late December for electrical relocation and field measurement work.
18. Parkway East/Pittsburgh:
Ramp restrictions at the I-376/Boulevard of Allies interchange, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through late December for reconstruction.
19. Coal Hollow Road/Penn Hills: Single-lane alternating traffic on the culvert between Lime Hollow Road and Old Coal Hollow Road, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through late October for culvert-lining work.
20. Route 130 (Tri-Boro Expressway)/Turtle Creek, Wilmerding, Monroeville: Single-lane restrictions in each direction through November for resurfacing, bridge preservation, traffic signal upgrades and other work. Wilmerding and Monroeville Road/Patton Street between the expressway and Monroeville Boulevard has reopened to traffic.
21. Coulterville Road/White Oak: Closed between Lincoln Way and Main Street through October to replace Long Run Bridge No. 3. Detour posted.
22. Connor Road/Bethel Park, Castle Shannon, Mt. Lebanon: Single-restrictions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through December between Oregon Trail and Franklin Drive for water line installation.
23. Brodhead Road/several locations: Improvement work means single-lane alternating traffic in the two-lane sections of Brodhead between Garnet Street in Moon and Katrina Drive in Center and singlelane restrictions in each direction in the four-lane sctions. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the project. Weekend work will occur as needed.
24. Vilsack Road/Shaler:
Closed between Morewood Road and Sunnyfield Drive through November for replacement of Pine Creek South Branch Bridge No. 6.
25. Scotch Hill Road/North and South Fayette: Closed between Willow Street in North Fayette and Marshall Road in South Fayette. The closure, which is expected to end in December, is required for the replacement of Robinson Run South Branch Bridge.
26. Perrysville Avenue: Ross, Pittsburgh: Single-lane restrictions between Marshall and Ivory avenues, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. through mid-November, for improvement work. 27. Duncan Avenue/Hampton: single‑lane Periodic closure near Bryant Road into December for rehabilitation of Stillhouse Run Bridge No. 1 as well as other work. Traffic maintained in both directions using flaggers.
28. Broughton Road/Bethel Park, South Park: Traffic restrictions between Library Road (Route 88) and Horning Road, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. weeknights through mid-December for improvement work.
29. Route 4054 (Freeport Road)/Marshall: Single-lane restrictions through mid-November between Perry Highway and Sheraton Drive for improvement work.
30. Route 30/Forest Hills: Traffic pattern has changed in work area between Lafayette and Fairfax roads. Work includes culvert reconstruction in two locations and relocating utility lines along the corridor; project ongoing until summer.
31. McKees Rocks Bridge: Traffic reduced to a single lane in each direction around-the-clock through early July for full preservation work.
32. East Carson Street/Pittsburgh: Paving operations continue, meaning single-lane restrictions in each direction between South 26th and South 27th streets and at the intersection of Sarah Street, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday. Additionally, paving will occur on the East Carson Street side roads from 10th Street to 15th Street as needed Monday through Friday, requiring the closure to local traffic while work occurs.
34. Smithfield Street Bridge/Pittsburgh: One lane of the bridge closed long-term for preservation work, but bidirectional traffic maintained. Motorists also will see lane restrictions on East Carson Street, Fort Pitt Boulevard, and I-376 (Parkway East).
34. Mt. Royal Boulevard/Hampton: Lane restrictions at the intersection of Royalview Road, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays through late October for gas line replacement.
35. Second Avenue/Pittsburgh: Lane restrictions and shoulder closures between Technology Drive and Hot Metal Street will continue around-the-clock through late October. Crews will conduct drainage upgrades and widening work.
