Jaguars air it out and fly past Hillers

Brody Evans completed 20 of 29 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns to lead Thomas Jefferson to a convincing 45-10 victory against Trinity in a Big Seven Conference game played Friday at Thomas Jefferson Stadium.

Evans connected with Sean Sullivan on touchdown passes of 70 and 14 yards in the second quarter. Sullivan finished the game with seven catches for 177 yards.

Elias Lippincott and Aidan Whalen also scored twice for the Jaguars, who improved their record to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in the conference. Lippincott scored on runs of 18 and 1 yards, while Whalen’s touchdowns covered 5 and 3 yards..

Trinity (2-5, 1-3) scored on a 1-yard run by Nico Mauro and a 26-yard field goal by Andrew Palm.

More Class 4A

West Allegheny 40, Ambridge 0: The No. 4 ranked Indians (6-1, 3-1) scored 40 or more points for the sixth time in seven games with their shutout of the host Bridgers (1-6, 0-4) in the Parkway Conference. Gage Upton completed 14 of 23 passes for 159 yards and connected with Nodin Tracy on a 5-yard scoring pass. Tracy also scored on a 2yard run. Brock Cornell scored twice for the Indians on a 4-yard run and an 84yard kickoff return.

McKeesport 48, Connellsvi­lle 0: Bobbie Boyd and Jahmil Perryman each rushed for two touchdowns as the No. 2 ranked Tigers (7-0, 4-0) remained unbeaten with a shutout of the visiting Falcons (2-5, 1-2) in the Big Seven Conference. The Tigers have allowed only 19 points in seven games, which leads the WPIAL. Boyd rushed for 106 yards on 8 carries and scored on runs of 15 and 18 yards. Perryman scored on runs of 22 and 15 yards.

Central Valley 43, Montour 0: The No. 3 ranked Warriors (7-0, 4-0) posted their 34th consecutiv­e victory by blanking the host Spartans (3-4, 2-2) in the Parkway Conference. Bret FitzSimmon­s rushed for 181 yards on 18 carries and scored on runs of 64 and 14 yards. Antwon Johnson connected with Jayvin Thompson on scoring passes of 9 and 21 yards.

North Catholic 13, Hampton 7: Kaden Sarver threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Kamody in overtime to give the host Trojans (4-3, 2-2) a Greater Allegheny Conference win against the visiting Talbots (3-4, 1-2). North Catholic tied the game in the fourth quarter on a 60-yard punt return by Jack Fennell. Hampton’s only points came in the second quarter on a 60yard intercepti­on return by Eric Weeks.

Mars 47, Kiski Area 28: Eric Kasperowic­z Jr. connected with Gabe Hein on touchdown passes of 79, 49 and 73 yards as the host Planets (5-2, 2-1) defeated the winless Cavaliers (0-7, 0-4) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Kasperowic­z, who completed 8 of 13 passes for 217 yards, also threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Rafael Bartley.

Latrobe 42, Ringgold 0: Corey Boerio scored two touchdowns for the host Wildcats (4-3, 2-2) in their shutout of the winless Rams (0-7, 0-3) in the Big Seven Conference. Boerio scored on a 1-yard run, then caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from John Wentzel, also had a 17-yard TD run.

Highlands 38, Woodland Hills 23: Chandler Thimons ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the No. 5 Golden Rams (7-0) remained unbeaten with a road win against the Wolverines (3-4), a Class 5A team. Thimons scored on runs of 11 and 1 yards and connected with Rondeal Hewlett on a 7-yard scoring pass.

Armstrong 47, Indiana 14: The River Hawks (6-1, 30) recorded a road victory in the Greater Allegheny Conference against the Little Indians (3-4, 1-3)

Aliquippa 54, Blackhawk 3: The No. 1 ranked Quips (6-0, 4-0) dominated the host Cougars (3-4, 2-2) in the Parkway Conference.

Chartiers Valley 22, New Castle 13: The Colts (1-6, 1-3) post their first win of the season against the host Hurricanes (1-6, 0-4) in the Parkway Conference.
