Good meet-up
If you’re an avid goodness reader, you likely remember a story about Kennedy’s Cookie Cookie Ice Cream from early October. Not only does the Feda/ Fox family use decades-old family recipes for their cookies and unique, modern recipes for their gelatolike ice cream, but they employ and mentor young adults with special needs.
Now, they’re focusing on that group in a new way by creating opportunities to gather socially. They’re joining forces with The Woodlands Foundation and hosting a cookie decorating event at the shop on Nov. 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. It’s geared toward older kids and young adults, but anyone with intellectual and/or physical disabilities and/or chronic illnesses is welcome.
Excuse to shop
Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, located in Washington, will hold an online auction with themed baskets, lottery trees, household items, dog and cat baskets and more from Nov. 14 to 18. Claimed items must be picked up with cash or check on Nov. 19 or 20 between 12 and 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit the rescue. Open up to deaf yoga
Nothing about being deaf or hard of hearing prevents a yoga practice, except maybe hearing the prompts in a typical class. That’s why, every two weeks, Lawrenceville’s Open Up Pittsburgh offers “deaf yoga” with an instructor and an ASL interpreter. The next class is Nov. 21 at 10:30 a.m.
