Bystander shot, wounded after dispute in Downtown escalates

A bystander was injured Tuesday when a fight devolved into gunfire in Downtown Pittsburgh, according to police.

Two people on Smithfield Street were involved in a dispute shortly after noon when someone pulled a gun, authoritie­s said.

A woman who was walking on Smithfield Street near Fourth Avenue was shot in the leg.

Police said the intended victim, who’d been engaged in the dispute, remained at the scene and spoke with police.

No arrests have been made. Police did not offer a descriptio­n of the suspected shooter.
