Devils rout Canadiens, run win streak to 10

Jack Hughes scored twice and the New Jersey Devils extended their winning streak to 10 games Tuesday night with a 5-1 win against the Canadiens in Montreal.

Dougie Hamilton, Jesper Bratt and former Penguin John Marino also scored for New Jersey. Vitek Vanecek made 25 saves.

The Devils will try to extend their streak to 11 Thursday in Toronto.

Lightning 5, Stars 4: Alex Killorn scored from the left circle on a 2-on-1 at 3:43 of overtime to give Tampa Bay the win at home. Lightning captain Steve Stamkos got the second assist on the goal, making him the second Tampa Bay player to reach 500 assists. Martin St. Louis is the other with 588.

Panthers 5, Capitals 2: Carter Verhaeghe scored twice in the final minutes as Florida improved to 5-1-1 at home. More impressive, the Panthers are 16- 2- 1 at home in their past 19 games dating to last season. Sergei Bobrovsky made 40 saves for his first win since Nov. 3.

Canucks 5, Sabres 4: Bo Horvat had a goal — his 14th of the season — and two assists as Vancouver ended a three-game losing streak with a win in Buffalo.
